Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tilesetter to join our growing team in Etobicoke, Toronto. This is a permanent, full-time position offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to work on diverse and exciting projects throughout the Toronto area. Location and Schedule
Our primary work location is at 25 Shaft Road, Etobicoke, ON M9W 4M3. However, as a tilesetter, you will be working on various residential and commercial sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The position requires flexibility with scheduling, including early morning, day, evening, night, weekend, and on-call shifts. Overtime opportunities are available for those interested.
Compensation Details
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $36.75 for 35 hours per week. As a permanent employee, you will be eligible for benefits and opportunities for advancement within the company. Key Responsibilities
As a Tilesetter with Skyscapes Balcony and Patio Flooring, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces, measuring and marking areas to be covered, and mixing various adhesives and mortars. Your duties will include setting tiles in place, applying pressure to affix them to the base, and aligning and straightening tiles for a perfect finish.
Installation Expertise
You will need to prepare rough plans and sketches for tile layouts, cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using both hand and power cutting tools, and pack grout into joints between tiles while removing excess grout. Additionally, you will be responsible for removing and replacing cracked or damaged tiles and installing tile strips for clean edges and transitions.
Advanced Techniques
The position requires laying and setting mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs. You will also be expected to build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets as needed. Advanced skills include cutting, surfacing, polishing, and installing marble and granite, as well as mixing, laying, and polishing terra surfaces for unique finishes.
Leadership and Planning
As an experienced tilesetter, you will be responsible for instructing apprentices and supervising other workers on site. The role also requires preparing tenders and quotations for potential projects, as well as estimating costs and materials needed for various installations. Your ability to plan and organize work efficiently will be essential to project success.
Required Skills and Experience
