The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating and delivering genetic portfolio research studies, including observational, phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials involving investigational medicinal product studies (CTIMPs). Role Details

As a Paediatric Research Nurse, you will be responsible for the holistic nursing care of children and young people and their families participating in clinical trials. You’ll contribute to the assessment and management of care pathways for patients in clinical studies and act as an ambassador for promoting research utilization and best practice.

The normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, though flexibility may be required to accommodate patient visits and assessments outside of these hours when necessary. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months on a full-time basis.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have extensive experience of working within an acute paediatric ward environment as a qualified nurse with previous acute NHS experience. You must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Nurse (Child).

You must hold a current paediatric immediate life support qualification and demonstrate evidence of ongoing continuing professional development. These qualifications are essential for ensuring you can provide the highest standard of care in this specialized clinical research environment.

Desirable Qualifications

While not required, having experience in staff management and development would be advantageous for this role. Additionally, knowledge of research governance and regulations, including ICH/GCP and EU Directives, is considered desirable.

GCP (Good Clinical Practice) accreditation is also desirable, as it demonstrates your understanding of the ethical and legal constraints of clinical research. These additional qualifications would enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the research team.

Essential Experience

Candidates must demonstrate understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk and quality issues. You should also have a solid understanding of professional and current issues in children’s nursing, along with knowledge of clinical governance and improvement agenda.

Previous experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints is essential, as is experience of research and audit. These competencies ensure you can maintain high standards of care while navigating the complexities of clinical research environments.
