About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and driven Consultant Acute Physician to join our medical services team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be actively involved in leadership, management, and decision-making within our Department. You will be expected to be readily available during the working week to ensure seamless communication with medical and nursing staff. Your responsibilities will include ensuring management plans are clearly displayed for patients with complex needs and liaising closely with divisional and service managers.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications include full registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice. You must also be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining your Certificate of Completion of Training in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine with a specialist interest.
Essential Experience
We require extensive experience in Acute/General Internal Medicine. Other specialties will be considered, but particularly desirable experience includes Respiratory Medicine, Care of the Elderly/Frailty, Diabetes, or Rheumatology. You must also have experience in clinical audit and research with evidence of publications.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, additional higher degrees relevant to this post would be beneficial. Other postgraduate qualifications such as MD or PhD would also be advantageous. Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC is also desirable.
Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated professional with a passion to improve the quality of patient care. You should possess strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and be an effective team leader. Flexibility of approach and commitment to clinical risk management are essential.
Teaching and Education
We value candidates with experience and interest in teaching both junior medical and non-medical staff. Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning is important. Membership of the Society of Acute Medicine is also desirable.
Research Opportunities
The post offers opportunities for involvement in research and evidence-based practice development. We encourage candidates with experience in clinical audit and research, and those with research leading to MD or PhD qualifications are particularly welcome.
Salary and Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per year, pro rata. The post is offered at 10 programmed activities (PA) under the terms of the 2003 Consultant Contract. Candidates wishing to conduct private practice would be required to offer additional programmed activity.
Location and Facilities
The position is based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Middlewich Road, CW1 4QJ. The hospital provides over 500 beds and the trust employs over 5,100 members of staff. A comprehensive range of community services is provided across 26 medical centers and schools through our Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership.
