We are seeking to recruit a Consultant Physician to join a dedicated team working within General Medicine at Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Rheumatology Department at North Manchester General Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified medical professionals seeking relocation to the UK with sponsorship available. We are supported by a large multidisciplinary team of junior trainees, clinical fellows, specialist nurses and allied health professionals.

Location
The position is based at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Kellgren Centre, Oxford Road Campus, Manchester, M13 9WL. This prestigious hospital is part of one of Europe’s largest health academic campuses.
Salary
£109,725 to £145,478 per annum. This competitive salary reflects the senior nature of the consultant position and is in line with NHS consultant pay scales.
Working Pattern
Full-time position. The appointee will participate in the out of hours on site (8am-4pm) on call rota, comprised of 8 weekends and a single bank holiday in a 12 month period.
Contract Type
Permanent contract offering long-term stability and career progression within the NHS.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- GMC Registration
- MRCP or equivalent
- Entry in the GMC Specialist Register for Rheumatology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
Desirable Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications / Experience in Clinical Research
- Evidence of commitment to CPD in Rheumatology
Essential Experience
- Clinical skills in Rheumatology equivalent to completion of Higher Speciality Training
- Experience in clinical audit / patient safety initiatives
- Teaching experience to medical and non-medical staff
- Good organisational ability and willingness to be flexible
- Experience of working in a cross boundary clinical team with good communication and management skills
Desirable Experience
- Evidence of research, service development and training in specific areas of specialist Rheumatology
- Experience in service improvement
- Experience of leadership
- Experience of organising / teaching courses
- Postgraduate qualifications in medical education
- Presentation skills
About the Role
The successful appointee should have received training in general rheumatology and should have a CCT or its equivalent in Rheumatology and General (Internal) Medicine (or be within 6 months of doing so at the time of interview). The successful candidate will be expected to continue the development of specialist services, work closely with other consultants in the rheumatology department and help share departmental workload, as well as ensuring the delivery of quality standards in medical care including the key areas of inpatient care.
To provide clinical leadership in Inpatient Medicine, supervising junior medical staff and multi-professional trainees as required.
