The Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist specializing in CAMHS ADHD & ADYSS with a generous recruitment package. Job Summary

This is a unique split position between two specialized teams: the Autism Diagnostic Youth Service for Suffolk (ADYSS) and the under 18 ADHD service. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychiatric input to both teams, supporting closer working within the entire under 18 neurodevelopmental disorders pathway. The role involves 0.3 WTE with the ADYSS team and 0.5 WTE with the ADHD team, offering diverse clinical experience and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will provide full diagnostic assessments for autism spectrum disorder for 11- to 18-year-olds through the ADYSS service. You will also conduct ADHD assessments for under 18s, prescribe medication where appropriate, and provide medical monitoring and follow-up. The position requires you to lead by example as part of the Clinical leadership team for Learning Disability Services across Suffolk, delivering high-quality care to patients and their families.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this position, you must have entry on the GMC Register, approved clinician status, and be Section 12(2) Approved under the Mental Health Act (MHA). You should either be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST. Additionally, 3 years or equivalent medical experience is required, with 6 months experience in a relevant clinical area.

Essential Experience

Candidates must demonstrate evidence of knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex mental illness. The role requires effective team working skills, leadership qualities, flexibility, and a driving licence or ability to travel independently. Research experience and experience of supervising junior medical staff with teaching and presentation skills are also essential requirements.
