Job Summary

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a permanent Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Consultant Psychiatrist to join their expanding crisis and home treatment service. This is an exciting opportunity to design and develop an innovative care model for young people aged 12-18 years, with a focus on play and prioritizing safe, effective community-based treatment as an alternative to inpatient admission.

This position includes a Recruitment and Retention Payment (RRP) of £45,000 structured over three years: £15,000 payable upon successful recruitment, followed by £10,000 payments at 12, 24, and 36 months of service. This payment is pro-rata for part-time employees. Additional relocation allowance of up to £8,000 may be available.

Key Responsibilities

This is a new post following the commissioning of the service as an alternative to CAMHS ward admission by the Kent and Sussex Provider Collaborative. The Trust seeks a Consultant Psychiatrist to work with the multidisciplinary team in the new crisis and intensive home treatment service, providing clinical leadership alongside senior MDT colleagues.

You will take a lead clinically and work as a proactive member of a full multidisciplinary team including Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Psychologists, Systemic Family Therapists and Social Workers. You will also contribute to the leadership team and help continually develop the acute care pathway alongside colleagues.

The role requires contribution to the CAMHS Psychiatry on-call rota and working alongside other Consultants and Specialty Doctors in Sussex CAMHS. You will be part of a Trust-wide Consultant network with opportunities to liaise with colleagues throughout the trust and develop peer networks.

Essential Qualifications

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent

Essential Eligibility Requirements

    >Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment

    >Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months

    >Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment

    >Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
