Job Overview
We are seeking a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Central Lancashire Home Based Treatment Team (HBTT) based at Royal Preston Hospital. This full-time permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for qualified psychiatrists to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team providing 24/7 services to people in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble.
Position Details
The post is based at the Avondale Unit, Royal Preston Hospital and offers a competitive salary ranging from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum. This is a full-time position (10PA) with additional remuneration available for participation in the Consultant On Call rota. The post is eligible for a 5% payment of basic salary payable over 2 years as part of a recruitment and retention initiative.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive psychiatric services. The consultant psychiatrist will carry a compact caseload of the most complex and unstable cases while being available at short notice to provide consultation and advice to other team members. Please note that while you will provide expert advice, you will not be required to act as care co-ordinator.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will be expected to provide psychiatric expertise to the Home Based Treatment Team, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients with severe mental health conditions. You will participate in the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration is payable. The role requires working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care outcomes for patients.
Person Specification
Applicants should hold MBBS or equivalent and full GMC registration with Licence to Practise. You must be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date. It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.
Essential Qualifications
The essential qualifications for this position include MBBS or equivalent, full GMC registration and Licence to Practise, inclusion on the GMC Specialist register (or within 6 months), Section 12 approval (or within 3 months), and Approved Clinician status (or within 3 months). Additionally, candidates must have knowledge, skills and experience relevant to this post.
