Responsibilities
As a Cook at Bangla Sweets, you will be responsible for a wide range of kitchen duties that ensure our customers receive exceptional South Indian vegetarian cuisine. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and cooking complete meals and individual dishes according to established recipes and quality standards. You will coordinate special events, determine portion sizes and costs, and plan menus while estimating food requirements.
You will requisition food and kitchen supplies, order necessary equipment, and maintain accurate inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment. Ensuring the kitchen and work areas are clean and sanitary at all times is a critical aspect of this role. Additionally, you will inspect kitchens and food service areas to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
Our Cook will also prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, following special dietary requirements with precision. You will prepare and cook special meals as instructed by dietitians or chefs, demonstrating flexibility and attention to detail. Training staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and proper food handling procedures will be another important aspect of your position.
Supervising kitchen staff and helpers, recruiting and hiring new team members, and managing overall kitchen operations will fall within your responsibilities. You will play a key role in maintaining the high standards that Bangla Sweets is known for while contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
We are seeking candidates with specific qualifications and experience to ensure the highest quality of food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will possess a Safe Food Handling certificate, which demonstrates your knowledge of proper food safety protocols and procedures. Additionally, a First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate are required for this position.
Experience in South Indian cuisine preparation is highly preferred, as our establishment specializes in authentic vegetarian dishes from this region. Candidates with experience in vegetarian cooking will have a distinct advantage, as our menu focuses entirely on plant-based options. Previous experience in a professional kitchen setting, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision, is highly desirable.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential. You should have strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
