Gtd Healthcare is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Salaried GP to join their small team at Ashton GP Service. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced or newly qualified GPs who want to be part of a larger organisation while enjoying the benefits of working within a smaller practice team. The position offers a competitive salary of £96,926 to £107,903 per year, pro rata depending on experience, and comes with the added benefit of a certificate of sponsorship for eligible international candidates.

Ashton GP Service provides healthcare to approximately 4,700 patients in the Ashton-under-Lyne area. The practice serves a diverse and multi-cultural population with a strong community spirit. A significant percentage of patients face deprivation, multi-morbidity, and mental health challenges, making this an interesting and varied role with numerous opportunities to make a positive difference in the community.
Working Arrangements
This is a permanent, part-time position offering flexible working hours. The successful candidate will be expected to work 3 sessions on Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday. Additional hours working with another local practice could also be considered, providing flexibility for those who wish to increase their working hours. The practice is committed to supporting work-life balance and offers flexible working policies to accommodate various needs.
Key Responsibilities
The successful GP will provide routine and urgent clinical care for both acute and long-term conditions, working in accordance with local and national guidelines. The daily clinical workload is shared equally among all clinicians, with additional workload minimized by the excellent care navigation team who signpost patients to appropriate local community services. Occasional home visits may be required, though these are generally low and often managed by the PCN Paramedic team.
Clinical Duties
GPs at Ashton GP Service will work with a practice pharmacist who supports with daily medicines management requests and reviews. All practice clinical administration, including secondary care documents, pathology lab reports, and patient NHS forms, is shared between clinicians daily. A typical day is structured with 15-minute appointments as standard (except for follow-ups and results), with two-thirds of the session dedicated to clinical work and one-third to clinical administration.
Leadership and Development
Strong leadership qualities are essential for this role, as the successful candidate will provide support to ACP trainees and other clinicians, including pharmacists and PCN paramedics. You will work with the team to continually improve standards of care, particularly in achieving QoF targets and KLOE objectives as outlined by the CQC. Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must be medical practitioners whose names are included in the General Practitioner Register under article 1 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003. Candidates should not be subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983. You must be a qualified General Practitioner with a completed certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and currently on a performers list without suspension from that list or the medical register.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, experience as a GP trainer would be advantageous. The practice values candidates who have experience supporting service change and possess strong team leadership skills. Additional experience in teaching and training is also considered desirable for this position.
Essential Experience
Candidates must be currently in practice as a General Practitioner or locum practitioner. You should demonstrate commitment to and experience of working within a multi-disciplinary and skill-mixed team environment. Previous experience working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF) is also essential for this role.
