About the Position
Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Adult Community Speech & Language Therapist Band 6 to join our team in South East Essex. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary of £31,049 to £46,580 per annum. The role involves providing specialized speech and language therapy services to adults with communication and swallowing disorders.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as part of our service team to provide continuing care for people with communication and/or swallowing difficulties in the community. You will be responsible for the independent prioritization and management of your own clinical caseload, beginning to take an active role in triaging and effectively prioritizing new referrals.
You will begin developing a clinical specialism and supporting colleagues within this specialist area, while delivering training to other Speech and Language Therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team. The role involves being actively involved in initiating audits and service improvement projects, as well as supervising the work of less experienced SLTs, students and assistants.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential:
- Recognized Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent
- Health & Care Professions Council registration number
- Successful completion of RCSLT dysphagia competencies
- Successful completion of NQP competencies
Desirable:
- Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
Experience
Essential:
- At least one year of clinical practice
Knowledge
Essential:
- Knowledge of assessment tools relevant to acquired and progressive neurological disorders in adults
- Therapeutic interventions relevant to acquired and progressive neurological disorders in adults
- Knowledge of national policies, procedures and current research relevant to all caseloads
- Knowledge of cultural and linguistic issues in working with a multicultural caseload
- Awareness of the principles of clinical governance/audit
