About the Role
Gtd Healthcare is seeking dedicated and proactive Salaried Urgent Care Doctors to join our urgent care services at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified medical professionals to work in one of the largest NHS commissioned Primary and Urgent care providers in North West England.
Job Summary
We offer a competitive salary ranging from £95,025 to £105,788 per annum, with additional enhancements for evening, weekend, and overnight working. This role provides flexibility with options for full-time, part-time, and flexible working patterns, with a minimum of 12 hours per week required across Monday to Sunday.
Location
The position is based at two locations: Royal Preston Hospital located at Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 9HT, and Chorley & South Ribble Hospital at Preston Road, Chorley, PR7 1PP. Our services operate 24/7, providing vital patient care to the community.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the medical gtd healthcare team, you will deliver urgent primary medical care in line with current evidence-based best practice. Your duties will include providing timely clinical care to urgent care patients in the form of advice or face-to-face consultation, ensuring appropriate referrals to further management services, and working within the prescribing formulary while taking account of the minimum length of prescribed treatment.
Additional Duties
You will be responsible for prioritization and timeliness of all consultations assigned to your shift, proactively communicating with Clinical Shift Leads and Senior Care Co-ordinators to ensure smooth shift operations. You’ll also represent gtd healthcare professionally when interacting with the general public and other healthcare professionals, supporting locally developed urgent care pathways and community alternatives to admission.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to a positive and productive work environment, help meet operational targets, and participate in strategic developments arising from the urgent care agenda. You’ll also be involved in teaching and training other health professionals and participating in audit of clinical and patient services.
Essential Qualifications
You must hold full GMC Registration with a current license to practice and without any current restrictions or undertakings. Additionally, computer literacy is essential, requiring the ability to use clinical systems and online decision support combined with a reasonable typing speed.
Desirable Qualifications
While not required, familiarity with ADASTRA is considered desirable for this position. Candidates with experience in GP Training or understanding of National Quality Requirements in Out of Hours will also have an advantage.
Essential Experience
You need a minimum of 3 years working in A&E (ED) as a Specialty Doctor or Associate Specialist. You should have an up-to-date understanding of modern primary care and its delivery in an out-of-hours/urgent care setting, experience working in urgent primary care, and the ability to manage common medical, surgical, and psychiatric emergencies.
Required Skills and Attributes
We are looking for candidates who are skilled and experienced in telephone consultation with good telephone manner and clear diction. You should be able to demonstrate holistic patient care, be flexible and able to adapt to change, and possess good problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and listening skills, even in difficult situations, are essential.
