Key Responsibilities

The post holder will provide a highly visible educational and leadership role for all Social Work staff across all directorates, with a specific focus on children services. You will work with clinical and operational leaders across Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) to ensure compliance with professional standards and development of high-quality integrated care across the Trust. There will be a particular emphasis on social work student placements, the practice education of student social workers, support and supervision responsibilities to Experienced Social Workers, and joint co-ordination responsibilities for Newly Qualified Social Workers undertaking the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) program.

Professional Development Leadership

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and the development of Social Work Apprenticeship. You will represent the Trust at regional meetings, ensuring learning and opportunities are conveyed and utilized effectively within the organization. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of social work practice and education within the Trust, particularly in services focused on children and families.

Clinical and Educational Excellence

You will ensure that high standards of clinical care provision, supervision, and education are maintained across all directorates. The role requires a leader who is a passionate social worker, an innovator, and personally motivated to work with social workers in various roles including care group leaders, corporate leaders, and multi-professional teams. Required Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess a highly developed professional knowledge gained through a recognized Social Work Qualification (Diploma in Social Work, BA Hons, BSc Hons, MA or equivalent qualification). Additionally, you must hold current registration and maintenance of registration with Social Work England. These qualifications form the essential foundation for this senior leadership role within the UK’s social work profession.

Essential Criteria

Knowledge and experience of delivering Social Work reflective supervision is essential for this role. You should also have knowledge of evidence-based models of Social Work practice, assessments and interventions, and demonstrate strong reflective practice. Desirable Attributes

While not essential, additional qualifications such as Best Interest Assessor or Approved Mental Health Professional would be advantageous. Experience and qualifications related to Practice Educating, specifically qualified to Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) Stages 1 & 2, would also be beneficial. Similarly, evidence of developing Social Workers within the Professional Capability Framework (PCF) and Post Qualifying Standard (PQS), and Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) is highly desirable.

Professional Experience

Applicants should have extensive experience leading a health and social care team effectively at a senior level. You should have experience of providing advice and guidance to other staff on complex cases or issues, demonstrate leadership in multi-disciplinary and partnership working, and show experience in managing safeguarding concerns and providing advice to staff regarding complex issues.

Leadership and Management Skills

Experience of chairing meetings and delivering a service focused on Lived Experience/Service User/Patient needs is essential. You should demonstrate a track record of driving standards and performance while contributing to strategic direction in a changeable environment. The ability to manage change effectively across services or organizations, with the capacity to identify, propose and implement solutions, is crucial for success in this role.

Knowledge and Skills

You will need specialist knowledge of Social Work procedural and legislative frameworks, initiatives, and systems. Understanding of emerging developments and political agendas, and their impact on service and organizational delivery is important.
