About the Role
Accelerate CIC is seeking 2 x Full-Time Clinical Leads for Lymphoedema to join our innovative healthcare team. This exciting opportunity includes one position in our Centre of Excellence & Innovation (CEI) and another that combines community-based work with CEI responsibilities.
As a Clinical Lead for Lymphoedema, you will leverage your passion for your specialty and expert skills in patient care management to deliver excellent outcomes for patients and commissioners. This leadership role requires understanding of patient flow principles, clinical systems, and organisational efficiency.
The Clinical Lead is considered the expert and will take ownership for the operational delivery of the clinical service in the Centre of Excellence and Innovation. You’ll need the ability to take a population health view rather than focusing solely on individual cases.
You will lead your team to deliver excellent clinical care alongside managing risk and effectively deploying team resources. This role is designed to enable you to take full end-to-end responsibility for delivering outcomes and indicators for a defined contractual business area.
Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Lead for the Lymphoedema Team will manage all aspects of clinical delivery in local health populations, focusing on continual improvement of the patient pathway and delivery of a population-based lymphoedema service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Continual improvement of the patient pathway
- Delivery of population-based lymphoedema service, including all aetiologies of lymphoedema and lipoedema
- Identification and proactive clinical management for complex and high-risk lymphoedema cases
- Proactive surveillance of outcomes in relation to timelines to care and clinical performance
- Interface with programme manager to ensure efficient use of local dressing optimization schemes and compression garment expenditure
- Development and mentoring of the Lymphoedema team
- Optimizing service resources in conjunction with the Clinical Lead for Wound Care

Circumstances (Essential):
- Holds valid UK work permit
- Holds current drivers licence and is able and willing to drive
Experience (Essential):
- Minimum 3 years’ nursing experience as a Lymphoedema Specialist
- Community nursing experience
- Complex leg ulcer related caseload responsibility
- Expert in compression therapy and theory
- Experience of working autonomously and in service development
- Experience of implementing Quality Improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of risk management
- Experience of teaching in variety of settings
- Line Management responsibility
- Delivery of clinical audit
Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications (Essential):
- First Level Registered Nurse or Physiotherapist
- Current NMC Registration or equivalent
- University degree demonstrating specialist knowledge and/or Masters
- Lymphoedema Course
Skills (Essential):
- Clinical Leadership
- Able to work with minimal supervision in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care
- Experience of supervising and mentoring other health professionals
- Experience of managing conflict within teams and patient delivery
Desirable qualifications & skills: Teaching and assessing course, prescribing course, experience implementing root cause analysis, publication, designed training packages, multidisciplinary working, and access to private transport.
