Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Community Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team in Jersey. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary of £55,021.79 to £68,437.82 per annum. The successful candidate will deliver and develop a specialist service for patients with defined mental health conditions, involving technical interventions and providing expert advice within a collaborative framework.

About Jersey

Key Responsibilities

The Community Mental Health Nurse will work as part of a dedicated home treatment team, carrying out statutory duties and using key skills to conduct comprehensive mental health and risk assessments. The role involves appropriately supporting service users to manage risk and meet identified needs, while incorporating carers and significant others into individual care plans.

Core Duties

  • Provide specialized mental health intervention face-to-face to people requiring crisis support
  • Offer increased and additional input as an alternative to in-patient admission
  • Provide professional day-to-day leadership to the multidisciplinary team
  • Apply specialist knowledge and analytical skills to support service users in making informed decisions
  • Safeguard vulnerable people through recovery-focused interventions

Person Specification

We are looking for candidates who meet our essential criteria and ideally possess desirable qualifications that would enhance their ability to excel in this role.

Essential Qualifications

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse with NMC Registration
  • 2 Years post-qualification experience working across general nursing
  • Thorough knowledge of NMC Code (2015)

Desirable Qualifications

    >In possession of or commitment to work towards a level 2 vocational award in health and social care
    >Teaching and Mentorship qualification

The post holder will take responsibility for continuing professional development within their area of expertise, with particular regard to relevant legislation and the safeguarding of adults and children. The role requires providing timely, accurate, and well-written reports in accordance with statutory guidance and Government policy, as well as offering professional advice, guidance, and training to others as required.

This autonomous and authoritative role involves multidisciplinary and multiagency working, requiring specialist knowledge evidenced by relevant postgraduate study. The successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of professional wisdom, confidence, and maturity. You will maintain a detailed knowledge of the broad range of professionals and resources available, fostering healthy relationships with senior individuals within these services.

Patient Care Approach

You will protect, promote, and monitor the safety and welfare of individuals and their carers by holistically assessing individual needs and developing care and intervention plans. Each person will be treated as a unique individual, with their individual views and wishes promoted wherever possible to support their rights through a least restrictive approach.

Leadership Responsibilities

The role involves leading the establishment and maintenance of trust and confidence with individuals and their carers through appropriate, open, accurate, transparent, and straightforward communication. You will clearly explain service policies and the professional role and responsibilities of the multidisciplinary team, while being accountable for the quality of your own work and that of those you supervise.
