Compensation and Schedule

Candidates must possess a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, demonstrating knowledge of safe handling of hazardous materials commonly found in automotive environments. Additionally, an Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certificate is required, which is the industry-standard certification for qualified automotive technicians across Canada. These qualifications ensure that our team members have the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Experience Requirements
We are seeking candidates with hands-on experience in various areas of automotive repair and maintenance. Desired experience includes: Automotive engines, Automotive equipment and systems, Engine repair, 4-wheel drive systems, Electrical and electronic systems, Diesel engines, Diagnostics, Alignment, steering and suspension, Brake systems, Hydraulic systems, Fuel and emission systems, Ignition and electrical systems, Automatic and standard transmissions, Engine repair and overhaul, Drive train components, Imported vehicles, and Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This diverse experience base will enable our team to handle a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Motor Vehicle Mechanic at Applewood Kia Surrey, you will play a vital role in our service department. Your responsibilities will include confirming findings with supervisors to determine whether to repair or replace units, discussing work details with supervisors, and inspecting and testing mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. You will be expected to inspect motors in operation, review work orders thoroughly, and road test motor vehicles to diagnose issues accurately.
Your duties will extend to testing automotive systems and components, adjusting, repairing or replacing parts and components of automotive systems, and repairing or replacing mechanical units or components. You will test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturer’s specifications, estimate parts and labor costs for vehicle maintenance and repairs, and perform scheduled maintenance services. Additionally, you will complete detailed reports to record problems and work performed, coach and instruct apprentices, provide excellent customer service, and assist with various automotive mechanical installation and servicing tasks.
