Job Overview
We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to work as part of the Pendle Community Mental Health Team. This is a full-time (10PA) post based at Pendle House in Nelson, Lancashire. The successful candidate will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be payable.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is competitive and ranges from £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, in accordance with the New Consultant Contract terms based on previous experience. Additionally, this post is eligible for a 5% payment of basic salary payable over 2 years as part of a recruitment and retention premium. A Golden Hello payment is also available, subject to eligibility criteria.
Working Pattern
This is a permanent, full-time position (10PA). The post holder will have at least 2.5 sessions protected for teaching, research, or other professional development activities per week. The trust is flexible in considering enhancements to support activities that align with the wider ambitions of the organization.
Language Requirements
Applicants must be proficient in English language to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. This includes both written and verbal communication skills necessary for documentation, meetings, and patient consultations.
Education and Qualifications
The essential qualifications for this position include MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Applicants must hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC, or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date. Additionally, candidates must be Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or be eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.
Essential Experience
Applicants must possess knowledge, skills, and experience appropriate for this Consultant Psychiatrist post. This should include substantial experience in psychiatry, particularly in general adult psychiatry, with demonstrable expertise in complex and unstable cases. Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams is essential.
Main Duties of the Job
The Pendle Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) is one of six teams in Pennine Lancashire. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and carry a compact caseload of the most complex and unstable cases. You will also be responsible for supporting and advising other team members, providing clinical leadership, and contributing to service development.
