About the Shipper Position
We are currently seeking a skilled Shipper to join our operations team in Debert, Nova Scotia. This is a permanent, full-time position offering competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are properly prepared, documented, and loaded according to company standards and regulatory requirements.

The work location is on-site, requiring physical presence at our facility. Salary and Schedule Information
This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $18.15 CAD for 40 hours per week. The work schedule includes evening and night shifts, providing flexibility for those who prefer non-traditional working hours. With six vacancies available, we are looking to expand our shipping team to meet growing demand for our products and services.

Required Education
The minimum educational requirement for this Shipper position is Forklift Operator Certification. This certification demonstrates your ability to safely operate industrial lift trucks and forklifts, which is essential for this role. If you do not currently possess this certification, the employer may provide training opportunities or assist with obtaining the necessary certification upon hire.
Required Experience – Technical Skills
Candidates should have experience with various software applications and technical systems relevant to shipping and logistics operations. This experience includes proficiency with database software, inventory control systems, spreadsheet applications, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Windows) is also required for effective documentation and record-keeping in this position.
Required Experience – Equipment Operation
Hands-on experience operating material handling equipment is essential for this role. The ideal candidate should have practical experience with dollies and hand trucks, hoists or winches, industrial lift trucks and forklifts, powered cranes, and scanners. These skills ensure that shipments are handled efficiently, safely, and according to established protocols. Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or shipping environment would be considered an asset.

As a Shipper, you will be responsible for determining the most appropriate method of shipment based on product type, destination, customer requirements, and cost considerations. This includes scheduling transportation conveyances such as trucks, freight companies, or couriers to ensure timely delivery. You will coordinate with various carriers and logistics partners to optimize shipping routes and reduce transit times.
Detailed Responsibilities – Documentation
Preparation of accurate shipping documentation is a critical aspect of this role. You will create bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other shipping documents required for domestic and international shipments. These documents must be precise and compliant with all relevant regulations. Your attention to detail will ensure smooth customs clearance and delivery processes.
Detailed Responsibilities – Packaging and Handling
You will be responsible for properly assembling containers and crates to ensure product protection during transit. This includes selecting appropriate packaging materials, constructing protective packaging, and packing goods securely for shipment. Additionally, you will affix identifying information and shipping instructions on all shipments, including barcodes, labels, and handling instructions.
Detailed Responsibilities – Inventory Management
Maintaining an accurate internal record-keeping system is essential for this position. You will be responsible for updating inventory records, tracking shipment statuses, and maintaining documentation of all shipping activities. This includes routing goods to appropriate storage areas before shipment and ensuring that inventory counts remain accurate throughout the shipping process.
Detailed Responsibilities – Loading and Unloading
Overseeing the loading and unloading of goods is a key responsibility of the Shipper role. You will ensure that shipments are loaded according to weight distribution, fragility, and destination requirements. This includes coordinating with warehouse staff or drivers to ensure safe and efficient loading practices. You will verify that all items are accounted for before shipment departure.
