Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Building Operator to join our maintenance team at Andrea’s Hotel. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with maintenance experience to work in a hospitality environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the physical condition of our hotel property, ensuring all systems are functioning properly, and addressing maintenance issues promptly and effectively.
Position Details
This is a permanent, full-time position with competitive compensation of $30.48 per hour. The work schedule is typically 35-40 hours per week, with day shifts, on-call responsibilities, and flexible hours available. Overtime opportunities are also available for qualified candidates. The position is based on-site at our Watson Lake location and is expected to start as soon as possible. We currently have one vacancy available in this role.
Responsibilities
As our Building Operator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and appearance of our hotel property. Your daily responsibilities will include operating industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, and other refuse throughout the facility. You’ll also be responsible for making adjustments and performing minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, while coordinating with tradespersons for major repairs that require specialized expertise.
Maintenance and Repairs
Additional responsibilities include performing minor repairs on appliances throughout the hotel, moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed, and carrying out other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair. You’ll work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues as they arise. Seasonal duties will include cleaning snow and ice from walkways and parking areas to ensure guest and staff safety during winter months.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should have hands-on experience with carpet cleaning machines, power tools, and small tractors with lawn/snow removal attachments.
